When I lived on Maui, I went to Mama’s Fish House a handful of times. I’ll share a little about my food today, but you can find reviews for the restaurant far and wide. I mostly wanted to talk about what to expect when you dine here. All are exceptional—and, at about $65 an entree, exceptionally expensive. Stroll the white-sand beach or relax under the shade of the coconut trees, all while taking pictures to capture the memory forever. They also can easily alter certain menu items for vegetarian or vegan diets.

Using a marine clock that was calibrated with time signals broadcast by shortwave radio, Doris called out the exact second that was noon. As evening approached young Marquesians performed traditional erotic dances to the music of guitars, ukuleles and multiple drummers. The rhythm of the drums and the fast Tahitian guitar strum was infectious. The Fete lasted late into the night, the coconut trees lit by flaming torches and the music and drumming echoing off the mountains.

First and foremost I would like to mention that the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome for our anniversary dinner. We were so glad to have celebrated at Mama's Fish House. The Mama's experience wouldn't be possible without our local farmers. Produce delivered daily keeps our menu fresh and connected to the land. They were determined to showcase the fish and the foods of Polynesia to their customers.
Editing our videos, teaching the kids how to snorkel, and learning about the 'aina (land) and Hawaii culture are my favorite things to do. Lunchtime is the best time to go to Mama’s Fish House for Erica and me. We also like taking our son Henry there for lunch as proper dinner dining is past his bedtime. We can all enjoy the beach cove and Maui’s North Shore for the day.
Lunch might be a salad of fish marinated in coconut milk and lime juice and served in a coconut. (Tahitian fish salad and Hinano beer are served at Mama’s Fish House). Floyd and Doris dreamed of someday opening their own Vaima. On a glorious morning, 36 days out of San Diego, Marinero sailed into the deep harbor of Tai O’Hai bay.
This is a great chance to don any special resort wear you brought along on your vacation. Men often wear aloha shirts with slacks, while ladies wear light floral dresses or jumpsuits. Don’t fret if you get to Maui and realize you didn’t pack a designer cocktail dress. While the restaurant is considered an upscale spot, the attire at Mama’s is what I’d call island casual.
